Welcome to Mazapan School!

We are so pleased that you have decided to visit our newly updated website to find out more information about our beloved school!  Full of history, community, pride, excellence, and charm, our one-of-a-kind school provides our students with unparallelled opportunities for learning and developing into citizens of character who contribute to their communities through their knowledge, problem solving skills, and heart for serving others.

Mazapan School is the oldest bilingual school in Honduras, established in 1928, for the employees of Standard Fruit Company, which is now known as Standard Fruit de Honduras.  This longevity provides the foundation for a tradition of excellence in providing our students with high quality learning, a strong school culture, and Pelican pride!  Being a part of a multi-national company that produces bananas and pineapples establishes a unique partnership that supplements the school through provision of resources, influence of health mindedness, efficiency in utilizing company departments, and a respected reputation. Locally, nationally, and internationally, Mazapan School is renowned for our legacy and rich history of excellence, as well as our commitment to continuous improvement in providing our students with what is needed to be successful in today’s diverse world.  We are proud of this reputation and strive to continue to exceed the expectations of our students and their parents.

Mazapan School is a unique place to learn, work, or visit. Aside from the peaceful, lush campus, the most recognizable quality of our school is the community and culture that we share.  Students, parents, staff, and the community are all an integral part of learning at Mazapan School.  It is the Spirit of the Pelican shared by this family-like community that sets our school apart from the rest.  Our parents are supportive, involved, and contribute immensely as partners to our students’ learning process. Our teachers are highly qualified, highly committed, and represent a diverse population both of Honduran nationals as well as expatriate teachers joining us from the United States and Canada. Being a small school provides a unique structure upon which students are known as individuals by their teachers and the rest of the school staff.  Upon entering our campus, one is instantly overcome by a sense of belonging, happiness, and an evident passion for teaching and learning that is evident from our tiniest of pelicans in our preschool all the way to our high school!

While content and knowledge are important, we place emphasis upon developing the skills needed to succeed in the 21st century; character, collaboration, problem solving, critical and creative thinking, and technology use. We pride ourselves on the high academic performance of our students, but are even more proud of the character traits that our students embody each and every day! The vast majority of our students complete their entire school careers at Mazapan School from early years through the end of high school.  Generation after generation successfully graduate on to the university of their choice, as well-prepared, excellent students.

Our academics and extracurricular activities provide our students with multiple opportunities to engage in learning, develop self-confidence, collaborate with peers, and achieve the high academic expectations of an AdvancEd accredited school. Our students complete a rigorous, bilingual curriculum that develops a solid bilingual foundation in the younger grades and prepares students for higher learning and life in the upper grades.

Whether joining us as a new student, in our current graduating class, or somewhere in between, at Mazapan School, every single student can count our commitment to providing optimal learning and a place where our students feel at home!
