Our preschool welcomes our smallest of pelicans into an engaging, fun, and exciting learning environment. Embracing the developmental needs of our students, we offer our students the opportunity to solidify a strong English language foundation and focus upon building their social and emotional skills. Our preschool embraces developmentally appropriate, engaging, hands on learning activities, assessments, and resources.

Lunch info from cafeteria for Kindergarten
Parents may order a “brown bag” from the school cafeteria. The snacks are delivered to the classroom during their snack times. Kindergarten students have their lunch in the cafeteria. Some students purchase food from the cafeteria and others bring their lunch from home. Teachers and classroom assistants help students to heat up their food in the microwave when needed.
Nursery
In Language Arts, through English imersion, play based centers and hands on activities, prompting, support and the use of different songs and stories, students begin developing their pre-reading skills, acquire the English language, learn the alphabet, and begin recognition of letter sounds. In Math, students rote count, identify numbers 1-10, identify shapes, colors, sizes and sorting objects. Students also develop and strengthen their fine and gross motor skills. Emphasis is placed upon the develpoment of these foundational social skills as students learn to share as a part of a classroom community.
Pre-Kindergarten
In Language Arts, through play based centers and hands on activities, with prompting and support, students continue enhancing their pre-reading skills, apply and use the English language. Students identify letters, sounds, continue developing their vocabulary, and display emergent reading behaviors. They also make connections between themselves and the world, retell stories and compare/contrast elements in a story. In Math, they identify numbers 1-20, count, compare and order objects. They identify and analyze shapes, sort objects, understand that addition as adding to, and subtraction as taking from, identify measurable attributes of objects and interpret graphs. In Science, students learn about their body parts, senses, healthy habits, animals and their habitats, growth of plants, earth and space. In Social Studies, they learn about their school, their country, community helpers, traditions and celebrations, goods and services.
They have specialty classes such as Music, Technology, Physical Education, Library and Spanish.
Kindergarten
Through play based centers, hands on activities, and small group instruction, students in Kindergarten solidify their pre-reading skills of identifying letters, sounds, and English vocabulary, vocabulary. Students learn the Kindergarten sight words and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding new words. In writing, students use a combination of drawing, dictating, and written communication using invented spelling and prompting to compose written pieces. In Math, students learn numbers 1-100, skip counting, comparing numbers, addition and subtraction. The also identify 3-D and 2-D shapes and compose simple shapes to form larger shapes. In Science, students learn how to take care of their bodies, explore the world around them in life and earth science, and discover and learn about physical science. In Social Studies, students focus on roles, jobs, and communities, use maps, learn about their country (Honduras) their teacher’s home state within the USA. They attend specialty classes in Music, Spanish, Physical Education, Library and Technology, with a subject area expert.
