The Visual Arts Department at Mazapan School offers students various experiences with the visual arts that enables them to understand different ways in which cultures have represented reality from ancient times to modern times.
In the Art Department three main skills are developed and strengthened:
- Creativity,
- Visual perception
- Aesthetic sensibility
These aspects encourage students to assume various attitudes towards their own learning, using their imagination to generate their own points of view, and develop a sense of respect for cultural diversity and commitment to the fine arts.
Art Class
The purpose of art class is for students to deepen the knowledge of an artistic language and practice it regularly in order to integrate knowledge, skills and attitudes related to the artistic thinking. To achieve this goal, the student practice different techniques that allow them to express themselves artistically, enjoying the experience of being part of an artistic environment, developing a critical judgment for the appreciation of artistic productions and the understanding that the artistic universe is deeply linked to the social and cultural life of one’s society.

1 to 2 exhibitions of the student’s work will be held annually.
Art Elective
The art elective is open to students in grades 9-12 that desire to extend their development of artistic skills and exploration. The purpose is for students to enjoy as they experiment and learn different styles of art. At the same time, they are developing their artistic appreciation, perception and creativity. Activities are not limited only to the classroom as this class takes place in different areas where students can appreciate the art.
