Performing Arts

The Mazapan School Music Department bases its actions on one simple goal; to teach and transmit to each student the love and passion for this beautiful art.

Music Program

Students read and play music beginning in preschool, and have fun while the learning process naturally progresses throughout the program. Students are “Music Makers” beginning day one.

The music program curriculum consists of the following:

  • Nursery to 2nd Grade

    • Singing

    • Moving while keeping a steady beat and rhythm

    • Playing percussion instruments

    • Learning to read and notate music notes, using the Baroque Notation System

    • Having fun!

  • 3rd to 5th Grade

    • Our musicians apply their knowledge and read music notes while they learn to play soprano recorder.

    • Students continue singing and playing musical games.

  • 6th- 8th Grade

    • The recorder is left behind and the guitar is our new instrument.

    • Each student learns to sing and play popular guitar.

    • Students perform playing and singing to the guitar as a class, in small ensembles, and individually.

    • Students performing using other  instruments as drums, electric bass and guitar.

The Band is part of the Elective Classes, from 9th- 12th grades. The student take their musical experience to the next level. They learn to play a band instrument and together, develop a varied repertoire. Our Band members represent us during the School assemblies and music festivals.

Our Pelicans are music makers, and of course, great singers. They put together their vocal talents and represent us, just like the Band members in school performances and music festivals. We have to meetings per week, after school.

News/ Highlights

At the end of the school year, Music Recitals are offered, showcasing the development achieved by some groups along the school year. Parents and other classes are invited and are witness of this outstanding job.
