Life in La Ceiba

La Ceiba has characteristics of both a small town and a modern city. The third largest city in Honduras, La Ceiba is also referred to as the eco-tourism capital of the country.

La Ceiba has the reputation for being the fun city of Honduras and is especially famous for its Carnival Week, celebrated in May. The Carnival celebrations mark the day we honor the city's patron saint, Saint Isidro. During Carnival week, there are different sectors of the city that organize nighttime parties with performances and live bands. La Ceiba also has a vibrant night life!

In La Ceiba, there are many places one can visit for recreation, such as the Pico Bonito National Park, the Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge, and many more. In the summer, La Ceiba is visited by thousands of tourists who admire its natural beauty. A great number of hotels are also found throughout the city to house our guests.

Just a short car ride out of the city, tourists can board a boat and visit the Bay Islands, where open-water Diving Certification can be obtained in about a week. The Bay Islands also feature the second largest Coral Reef in the world. Tourists can dive to admire and explore the reefs, swim with whale sharks and dolphins or simply relax on the beautiful beaches.

Tourists can also go to Cayos Cochinos Natural Reserve and admire the natural wonder of our country. The Cayos Cochinos are a group of two small islands (Cayo Menor and Cayo Mayor) and 13 small coral cays, 19 nautical miles northeast of La Ceiba, which is on the northern coast of Honduras.
