8th Grade
With our Language Arts program we cover literature, independent reading, and writing and grammar. Our science program for this year is focused on environmental science. Students learn about the many environmental problems we are experiencing worldwide, measuring consequences, and analyzing solutions for each one.
The students have worked on a couple of projects. Their projects have been outstanding and students have learned about history, culture, traditions, and even tasted special dishes from different countries.
In 8th Grade Social Studies, we are working our way backwards through history with an emphasis on political systems and economics. We are currently wrapping up a unit on the Age of Reason and are moving back through time to the middle ages and antiquity. It is invigorating to see students’ reactions once they realize why some events happened and they make the connections between events of the past and the present.
8th grade Mathematics focuses on preparing students for algebra in high school. We are strengthening students’ abilities to work with integers, fractions, and multiple step equations involving variables.
